Some of these venues also have smaller spaces for private dinning or smaller birthday parties.
I've performed at most of the venues on this list as a close up magician in Nottingham. In fact, throughout this guide, I'll include a short summary of what I did at those venues, so look out for those.

Nottingham Bars to Hire For Events

Faradays is a friendly venue, in the creative quarter of Hockley. It's just seconds away from public transport and several hotels, plus it has a private function room available. This makes it the ideal place to hire for an event, such as birthdays anniversaries, or business events.
When I performed here a few years ago., it wasn't actually as a close up magician for a private event, but rather as part of a promotional event for the beer brand Desperados. My role that night was to perform incredible magic alongside a team of staff helping guests to sample the beer. It's a little more unusual way of performing, but I was still able to bring lots of energy to the event and help people to have a great time!
Hockley Arts Club

This magical place, which is hidden away in the trendy Hockley are of Nottingham is like three venues in one. Stockholm is their ground floor bar serving a full selection of cocktails, wines & beer, in a mid-century Scandinavian inspired space which has all the hustle & bustle of a good old fashioned local pub. The Blue Rooms is their full table service restaurant. And finally The Electric Garden is the perfect private hire space for events and celebrations.
I performed here for a private Christmas party for a high street cosmetics brand. This took place in The Electric Garden. I wrote about this event on my page for close up magic in Nottingham, but let me just say briefly, it was a fantastic night with great guests, great magic (I-thank-you!) and a fantastic party venue!

Hidden away behind the cobbled streets of The Lace Market lies this beautifully secret venue, full of lush green vegetation, 80s neon vibes, and individually decorated rooms for you and your group to hire. Set across three floors with individual rooms to hire for small parties, or whole floors for the larger party. This is a fun quirky bar for your celebration or event.

This is a fab modern bar, with an excellent menu of food and drinks. For functions, their Riverside Gallery offers fantastic views out to the River Trent, and a striking space with high ceilings, Victorian windows and exposed brickwork. The Riverside Gallery is completely versatile to create the perfect setting from milestone birthday parties, weddings to meetings, and much more.

The Black Pearl

This one's a little further out from Nottingham City Centre, but if you're in this area, then check out this venue if you want to start your weekend with cocktails and finish with a boogie! They have live music every Thursday, Bottomless Pizza & Prosecco every Friday, and DJ's playing Soul, Funk and Motown from the 80's every Saturday.
I was here very recently for a corporate Christmas party, performing in the upstairs room. I mixed with all of the guests, sharing impossible close up magic tricks, conversational comedy, and wishing people a Happy Christmas, of course. It was a fantastic night, and while clients always tell me that I've done a great job, it's always great when that is backed up by an online review. Set in the gothic grandeur of one of King Street's most magnificent listed buildings, this cocktail bar and restaurant serve every cocktail with an obsessive eye for detail, bring to your table glorious food inspired by worldwide cuisines, and set everything with a devilish dash of theatre.

Located between Maid Marian Way and Market Square, just minuets away the city's best shopping and nightlife. You will swear you have been transported to Thailand, watch out for the oncoming train passing through the Maeklong Railway Market or climb aboard a tuk tuk and soak up Thailand's famous bustling street food markets.
Note, this is a walk in restaurant only, so might not be the best idea for a private party where you want to hire an events space. I don't think they do that. However, it could be the start of a great night if you are celebrating.
Baresca Tapas

Actually two venues, one in Nottingham, and one in West Bridgford. Not only were these venues shortlisted for the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, but their food which is at the heart of any restaurant is a one-of-a-kind experience. Tapas is a form of dining that involves a more inclusive, sharing, complete experience: one where great food, great company and great atmosphere were equally important. I know from experience that in Spain, it's not just about what you eat but how you eat too!
With all of that in mind, this seems like the perfect place for a big party, surprise birthday, or even a wedding.

Papplewick Pumping Station

The Pumping Station has been a wedding venue since 2009 and hosts an average of fourteen weddings a year between April and mid October. This is therefore quite an exclusive wedding venue, as not many would get the opportunity to get married here. Most couples choose the wonderfully ornate Engine House for the ceremony itself, but if required you may hire the smaller Tarbotton Room as an alternative location.
I performed here in 2018 for a large wedding where I entertained guests with close up magic after the wedding breakfast, during the turnover period. This one is a bit of a wildcard in this list, as it is located just over the border from Nottinghamshire. It's actually in Lincolnshire, but I wanted to include it because the Manor House is a beautifully restored Grade II Jacobean building that is steeped in history. I know that for some, a historical setting is the perfect option as their wedding venue.

At Trent Bridge, visitors enjoy the simplicity and reassurance of a dedicated event coordinator taking care of every element of planning and delivery to ensure that the rooms and events spaces, catering and service are on point from arrival to departure. There are a variety of spaces, including Six, their fine dining restaurant on the sixth floor, that overlooks the pitch. I think this would be the perfect venue for a corporate conference, but would also suit a wedding for a couple who live in the local area or are keen cricket fans. I've performed at Horspool on three occasions. The first two were for private events, a birthday party and then a hen party. Each time I provided close up magic, but in a show format where I perform to the whole group. That's a great option to experience magic in a relaxed setting.
