Want to know a secret? Close up magic isn’t just about the tricks. It’s about the personality of the performer. Their timing, experience, and ability to read the room often matter more than how many tricks they know.
So, when hiring a close up magician, look for that experience in the form of real photos, live event footage, and testimonials from similar events.
My approach has been developed over the past 20 years, and focuses on conversation rather than a rigid script. I react to your guests in real time so every moment feels discovered and genuine.
This means the room feels warmer, more relaxed, and more alive. And that’s what gives everyone the green light to laugh and react together.
My sharp magic with cards, coins and other objects, brings people together and sparks the stories you’ll be sharing for years to come.

CLOSE UP MAGIC FAQS
Got a question, I haven’t answered below? Reach out to me, here.
The process starts with an enquiry via my contact form or a phone call to discuss your date and requirements. After agreeing on the details, I provide a booking agreement and request a deposit to secure the slot in my calendar. The remaining balance is typically settled shortly before the day of the performance.
As a guide, most bookings for close up magic range between £400 and £1000. The price is based on a few factors, such as the date, time, location, and the package you choose. As you might expect, a midweek event is cheaper than a peak weekend date. I always provide a bespoke quote once I know the details of your event. You can request a no obligation quote here and I’ll reply as soon as possible.
I am based in Staffordshire which means I’m ideally located to cover most of the country. I frequently perform in Birmingham, Nottingham, Shrewsbury, Manchester, and London, but as one of the top close up magicians in the UK, I am often asked to travel further afield. Distance is never an issue, and in fact, I have also performed at international events in Europe and the USA.
I offer three main formats of close up magic: mix and mingle/walkaround magic (circulating among standing guests), table magic (performing between courses at dinner), and a close up show (a seated show for smaller groups of about 30 people). We can also mix these styles to suit your itinerary. As an alternative or additional extra, I can also offer a stand up / stage show.
For corporate dinners, a short welcome with mix and mingle magic followed by table magic between the courses ensures the energy stays high throughout.
For weddings, the drinks reception or the period during the photos works best to keep guests entertained.
For parties, it’s a bit more flexible but mix and mingle magic, or a short group performance work best, depending on how many guests you are expecting. Get in touch for more tailored advice.
In a standard two hour walkaround magic session, I can comfortably perform for approximately 100 people. If it’s a bit more than this then an extra hour/half hour can be added. If there will be 200 + guests, then I would recommend additional entertainers. See the question/answer below ↓ for how I can help!
Yes. If there will be 150 + guests, then I can co-ordinate additional professional magicians to work alongside me. I’m well connected in the magic industry as I host a regular magic event where I work the top UK close up magicians. Bonus: I’ll do all the organising, and logistics with them, so that you get maximum entertainment, zero stress.
Yes. I hold full Public Liability Insurance (PLI), organised for me by Equity (the performing artist’s union). I can provide a copy of my certificate to you or your venue coordinator upon request.
